A Rose Like a Hypercolor Shirt

8 Apr

So that color changing aspect I was talking about with the china rose, Archduke Charles?

Here’s a bad photo of it at my desk. But if you pay attention to the white areas on the rose… they are white exactly in the shape of the petal above them. So they’re like a Hypercolor shirt from the 80’s. How cool is that. This only happens later in the bloom’s bloom life. It starts out reddish intense pink, turns pale in the center, and then turns red again, but only where the sun hits it. It essentially stops changing color if you cut it or bring it inside, too.
